Winter on the Volcano
Snow melts fast here in the lava flows and cinder
fields surrounding Sunset Crater and the National
Monument created for the volcano. This dusting of
fresh snow melted almost immediately after this
exposure. The lava rock gathers and radiates heat
very fast, making this type of scene extremely
short-lived.
